Cookies

Last updated: 2026-05-28

This website uses cookies and similar storage for two opt-in purposes: analytics (Google Analytics) and external media (embedded YouTube videos). Both categories are off by default and only activated after you consent via the cookie banner's per-category toggles. A small set of strictly necessary storage entries always runs because the site cannot work without them — they are listed in the table below.

For more information about how we process data on this website and in the ClipCatalog app, see our Privacy Policy.

Consent categories

The cookie banner exposes three categories. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the site footer.

  • Strictly necessary — always on, no toggle. Covers the consent record itself (cc_cookie_consent_v2) and Cloudflare Turnstile (anti-bot challenge on form submissions, lawful basis GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) legitimate interest). Includes the cc_purchase_v1 sessionStorage entry created during checkout (cleared when the tab closes). On the /checkout page, Paddle (our payment processor and Merchant of Record) also loads its checkout iframe, which sets first-party cookies on its own paddle.com domain that are strictly necessary to complete the purchase you initiated (session continuity, fraud prevention). These cookies are set by Paddle inside its iframe, not by us, and are exempt from prior consent under Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive because they are necessary to provide the service you explicitly requested. See Paddle's cookie notice at paddle.com/legal/cookies.
  • Analytics — off by default. When enabled, loads Google Analytics, which sets the _ga and _gid cookies listed below.
  • External media — off by default. When enabled, embedded YouTube videos on this site (served from youtube-nocookie.com) are allowed to load. Until then the player is replaced by a placeholder and no data flows to Google.

Cookies and similar storage we use directly

Name Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics: distinguishes users (set only after analytics consent) 2 years
_gid Google Analytics: distinguishes users (set only after analytics consent) 24 hours
cc_cookie_consent_v2 Stores your per-category cookie-banner choices — necessary, analytics, external media (localStorage, not a cookie) No expiry (until cleared)
cc_purchase_v1 sessionStorage entry written on the checkout page after a Paddle "checkout completed" event so that the "Thank you" page can render your purchase summary, fire the Google Analytics purchase event (only if analytics consent has been given), and pre-fill the marketing-consent form with your purchase email. Cleared when you close the browser tab. Session (cleared on tab close)

Third-party scripts that may set cookies or similar storage

Several services we rely on for spam protection and email delivery may set their own cookies or similar storage on their own origins. We do not control the content or duration of those entries, and they are governed by the third party's own policies.

  • Cloudflare Turnstile — loaded on every page that exposes an email-submission form (the download-link modal, newsletter signup cards, and the post-purchase consent form on /thank-you). Turnstile evaluates whether the form submission is human; in doing so Cloudflare may set short-lived session cookies on its own challenge origin (challenges.cloudflare.com). These run only on Cloudflare's domain — Turnstile does not set tracking cookies on this site and is not used for analytics. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) — used to deliver the opt-in newsletter described in our Privacy Policy. Newsletter emails contain a small remote image (a tracking pixel) that loads from Brevo when you open the email and links that route through Brevo before reaching their final destination. These signals run inside the email client, not on this website, and Brevo's redirect domain may set its own cookies when you click a tracked link. To suppress the pixel, most email clients let you disable remote-image loading; clicking unsubscribe stops further emails (and therefore further tracking) at the next campaign send.
  • Google Analytics — listed in the table above; loaded only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner. Google may set additional cookies on its own domains as described in Google's cookie policy.
  • YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com / Google LLC) — the product-tour video on the home page and any future YouTube embeds on this site are loaded only after you enable External media in the cookie banner. Once loaded, the YouTube player may set storage on its own origin (youtube-nocookie.com / youtube.com) to remember playback preferences and similar; we do not control those entries. See Google's privacy policy. To prevent future videos from loading, clear External media via the Cookie settings link in the footer.

How to withdraw consent

Click Cookie settings in the site footer to re-open the banner and change your per-category choices. Your new selection takes effect immediately for analytics (no new Google Analytics requests will be made on subsequent pageviews) and for external media (embedded videos that have not yet loaded will stay as placeholders). You can also clear your browser's site data for this domain to remove the stored consent record entirely; the banner will then reappear on your next visit.
